About LUNE family tree
Please sign in to see more. The name LUNE has always fascinated me since my school days when we had a history lesson on genealogy. Thus said, it was a case of 'I must do it' rather than doing anything about it. That all changed when I attended the funeral of a friend's grandmother...... I noticed that the name on the headstone next to where my mate's nan was being buried was that of a 'Harold LUNE'. This confirmed my belief in two things: firstly, that there are greater forces at work out there and, secondly, wherever you are in this world, one thing is certain - you are never far away from a Lune! (It turned out that Harold Lune was a cousin of my paternal grandfather Fred W Lune). I had caught the 'family history bug' and set out on the road to discovery.......
Whilst researching my family history I have found, sadly, many premature deaths - the most poignant of which was that of George H Gibbons (my grandfather's brother) tragically killed by a lorry aged just 5 years. I have also discovered the death of my great great grandfather (James Henry Lune) who in the summer of 1919 suffered sun-stroke followed by a heart attack later that same year....clearing the snow away!; an elderly spinster whose first marriage was at 62 and then married for a second time at the age of 67!; a few emigrations to Canada in the early 1900s and a murder victim!! (see Ethel Shooter).
My thanks to Donna Borden (Toronto) and Sheila Clark (Nottingham) for showing an interest in my tree and for helping find information which without their help I would not have found. Thanks also to Peter Done, Derek Lune, David Fullwood, Roger Parker and Alan Kirk, for sharing their trees with me and to Ron and Iris Gibbons for sharing family photos and family information. More recently, thank you to Graham Knight for providing extra information and photos.
Anyone who may have a connection or additional information on any of the names in my tree is more than welcome to contact me. I would love to hear from you - my tree is by no means complete! |
